Meet Priya Vadivel
Ward 1 deserves a councillor who listens, understands the challenges residents face, and has the experience to get things done.
Priya Vadivel brings together professional leadership, business experience, and years of hands-on community involvement. She has worked with major global companies, built a successful business, and spent countless hours volunteering and working alongside people in our community.
Now, she is ready to bring that experience, energy, and commitment to Pickering City Council.
Experience That Gets Results
Throughout her professional career, Priya has worked in leadership roles with Fortune 500 and other major organizations, gaining extensive experience in budgeting, strategic planning, negotiation, governance, problem-solving, and managing complex projects and teams.
She knows how to bring people with different perspectives together, make difficult decisions, and stay focused on results.
Leading global teams taught me how to bring people together to solve difficult problems. That same ability to listen, collaborate, and find solutions is exactly what I will bring to Council.
— Priya Vadivel
A Business Owner Who Understands Accountability
As a successful business owner serving families across the GTA, Priya understands what it means to create jobs, manage budgets, control costs, build a strong team, and be accountable for results.
In business, every dollar matters. Priya believes taxpayers deserve that same discipline at City Hall
“I’ve managed multimillion-dollar budgets. When it comes to public money, every dollar deserves careful thought, accountability, and due diligence.”
— Priya Vadivel
Priya will ask the tough questions, look closely at how tax dollars are being spent, and advocate for decisions that provide real value for residents.
Community Is at the Heart of Her Campaign
What truly defines Priya is not only her professional experience—it is her commitment to the community.
Long before she became a candidate, Priya was already showing up and getting involved. As the Founder of the Highbush Neighbourhood Association, she worked to connect neighbours, give residents a stronger voice, and bring attention to local concerns.
Her community involvement also includes regular volunteering and service with St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Community Food Bank, Dedicated Advocacy Resource Support (DARS) Pickering, Ajax-Pickering Road Watch, 100 Women Who Care Durham, and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 606.
This involvement has given Priya the opportunity to listen directly to residents, understand local concerns, and see firsthand where our community needs stronger advocacy.
“Community isn’t a backdrop for my campaign. It’s the reason I’m running.”
— Priya Vadivel
Leadership That Starts With Listening
She will listen—even when people disagree. She will speak openly about where she stands. And she will work with residents, City staff, fellow councillors, community organizations, businesses, and other levels of government to find practical solutions.
Because good leadership is not about having all the answers. It is about listening, asking the right questions, bringing people together, and getting results.
Priya doesn’t just talk about community—she works for it.
Now, she is ready to be a strong and effective voice for Ward 1 at City Hall.
